Club Sandwich is a snowboard culture print project featuring multiple photographers’ books, packaged together and sold as a set. Each artist had total freedom to create and include whatever they saw fit within their page count, from photos to art to design.
My effort is a 74-page A2 (16 x 23”) sized spiral bound book, that details my start into photography, self-taught film notes, obtaining my first lens, world travel, meeting people around the globe and our experiences. I dive into film slides and scans, digital photography, printing, smart phone art, and pay homage to a couple of close friends we’ve lost.
I created this book one-hundred percent scrapbook style, using a family friendly workspace to lay out the thirty-seven spreads through painting, printing and travel scraps collected over the past two decades. This was a collaborative effort, from the minute I started the pagination and kicking around content ideas, to building pages, guest spreads and so on. I found great joy in assembling this book by hand, in a studio setting, having friends alongside to bounce ideas off, while sharing the satisfaction of completing each spread.
