During the 80’s and 90’s trading cards were a thing, this is how you collected your favorite sports players’ likeness, marveled at their sporting ability, and dreamt of being a big leaguer yourself. One by one you’d find each player’s card, enjoying the month’s long tradition of tracking down the entire set, whether it was baseball, football, or the occasional special edition Star Wars movie cards. We’re talking pre-internet times when you bought packs of cards hoping to pull those elusive numbers to complete a set. If you couldn’t score a missing card through purchase, you’d get together with friends and trade out with one another. This was a great hobby and positive way to stay busy in between racing BMX bikes and building ramps.

Fast forward to the late 2010’s and trading cards started making the news again, what a trip! As in previous decades, rookie cards continued to dominate the resale market, demanding serious coin for a card in perfect condition. Entire sets once again piqued peoples’ collecting interest, as well as special edition cards released throughout the year.

One fine winter day in 2022, Boarders Trading Cards hits me with a call asking if I’d like to contribute shred images to baseball style trading cards featuring snowboarders. Without hesitation I said, “For sure, would love to!” as the nostalgia came racing back. After a couple of sold-out sets, Boarders asked if I wanted to be featured on the ‘Photographers Edition’ cards; and I said “For sure!” It may have taken a few decades to be featured on a sports card, but here we are in 2022, I’m stoked!
